Gymnastic rings can be used for both training and relaxing, which is the main reason why they are widely used in gymnastics, fitness freaks, and calisthenic communities. There are different types of Gymnastic Rings available in the market. They are all made of different materials and by different construction methods. This makes them different from one another and allows a set of their own features.

So, let's get to know different types of gym rings and their features.

Types of Gymnastic Rings:

There are 5 types of common gymnastic rings that are being used by people to perform exercises. Let's discuss them in detail.

Birch Wood Gymnastic Rings:

The birch wood gymnastic rings are made of all-natural materials, as the name states them. Its the most hot selling gymnastic rings on the market thanks to its good performance and affordable price.

They are cheaper than other wooden rings like beech wood rings. Birch wood rings are usually more expensive than ABS rings, but they are totally worth it because of the features and convenience they provide. In terms of grip, wood rings are much better than other kinds of rings. When your hands get sweated during exercise, both steel and plastic rings will be slipper while sweat just make the wood rings stick better to your hand.

Birch wood gymnastic rings are strong and sturdy enough to bear heavily weighted persons. They can easily hold up to 150kg or 330 lbs, making them suitable for all types of customers. 

 

ABS Gymnastic Rings:

These rings are made from plastic materials,usually made by recycle ABS materials. This makes them affordable, sturdy, and long-lasting. While they are strong, they are not as sturdy as birch wood rings.

ABS gym rings come in a variety of colors to meet all users' needs. They can be slippery, so they may not be the right choice for those performing lengthy exercises or repeated movements.

 

Steel Gymnastic Rings:

Steel Gymnastic Rings are made of metal steel instead of wood or plastic and are used for multiple exercises. They are ideal for heavy-weighted people or those who don't like the feel of wooden or plastic rings.

These gym rings are used in a variety of fitness routines. Steel rings can hold up to 500 lbs of force and are ideal for exercises like dips, rows, pull-ups, and even push-ups. They help build strength and muscle and help you perform a full-body workout.

There are two things that can be problematic for most of the people in these rings: their weight and their slippery texture.

They are slightly heavy weighted as compared to the above-mentioned wooden and ABS rings. Besides, steel rings can be slipperier than wood or ABS rings, so a user will have to use them with grip tape or magnesium powder.

Beech Wood Rings:

Beechwood rings are exactly what they sound like. They are made of high-quality beech wood that is strong enough to hold more than 250 kg of weight. Besides being strong, they are hard, tough, durable, and lightweight, making them suitable for every type of user, including professional calisthenic communities.

These wooden gym rings are far more expensive than other wooden rings like birch wood rings. The reason behind Beech Wood Rings being expensive is because Beech Wood is not found commonly. Beech wood rings are used by professional gymnastic players from all around the world.

Bamboo Rings:

Another type of gymnastic ring available in the market is the Bamboo ring. These rings are made of sustainable bamboo.

The material Bamboo is just as strong as wood, but it's more durable and less likely to splinter. So, you can focus on your workout without worrying about a stray splinter getting in your way. Besides, they are portable, easy to use, and made from eco-friendly materials.

They are smooth and durable, but they provide less friction.

Types of Gymnastic Rings Straps

There are three common strap types that can be used with any gymnastic rings. In general, the width of a strap can be between 25mm to 38 mm. The wider strap is, the better it will perform. All types of straps commonly comes in a standard size of 4.5 meters.

Let's discuss straps types in details.

Strap with Silk Printed Number Scale:

Straps with silk printed number scales are the most common type of gymnastic straps. These straps can help you make sure that the position of each side is at the same height. These straps usually come with a white number scale, but other colors can also be made.

The number system usually ranges from 1 to 14; this helps balance the straps on both gymnastic rings.

Jacquard Number Scale Strap:

These types of straps are the same as the above mentioned. The only difference is in numbers, number 1 to 14 are made by the jacquard machine, it looks light than silk printing number, but it's more durable.

It won't fade off during use. The numbers on the scale can be also made in other colors like red, yellow and so on.

Double Side Stitched Strap with Carabiner Each Side:

With the double side stitched strap with a carabiner on each side, you'll be getting the most luxurious experience that money can buy. These straps come with four high-end carabiners on each side, so it's easy to adjust the length of each strap as needed.

The straps are usually printed or jacquard with a number scale and are 3m long by 25mm or 38mm wide. That is why they are more expensive than all other straps.
